Chronic Diseases and Conditions

Chronic diseases and conditions put you at risk for heart attack, blindness, kidney failure, and stroke – the leading cause of disability. Seven of 10 deaths in the U.S. each year are due to chronic disease. Two-thirds of those deaths are due to five chronic diseases or conditions: cancer, cardiovascular disease, obesity, asthma, and diabetes, including the conditions and diseases below. Nearly half of all Americans suffer from one or more chronic diseases or conditions like heart disease, diabetes, obesity, or asthma.

Chronic diseases and conditions affect approximately 1 out of every 4 employees in the workplace, and can last for as long as 1 year, limit what you can do, and require lifelong medical care.
